THE IMPACT OF BUSINESS PLANNING ON THE COMPETITIVENESS OF MANUFACTURING FIRMS IN PLATEAU STATE

Abstract

This study examines the impact of business planning on the competitiveness of manufacturing firms. A descriptive survey design was adopted using quantitative data collected from 203 manufacturing firms in Plateau State, with a total of 627 responses. The hypotheses were tested using multiple regression analysis, alongside multicollinearity and normality tests. The findings indicate that financial planning and marketing planning have a significant positive impact on firm competitiveness, while production planning shows no significant effect. The study concludes that business planning plays a critical role in enhancing the competitiveness of manufacturing firms.
