Abstract

This study investigates the concept of sin in Christianity and Islam and examines its implications for the moral and civic behaviours of Nigerian citizens. Anchored in a comparative descriptive survey design, the research adopted a mixed-method approach involving 300 respondents drawn from Kaduna, Lagos, and Kano States. Data were collected through structured questionnaires and semi-structured interviews with selected religious leaders. Findings revealed both doctrinal distinctions and practical convergences in the understanding of sin across the two religions. The study concludes that sin-consciousness grounded in religious teachings remains a powerful driver of ethical behaviour and civic integrity in Nigeria.
