Abstract

This paper presents a content analysis of selected Yoruba written poetry within Nigeria’s decolonised social system, highlighting the extent to which poets demonstrate a decolonised mindset in their works. The methodology involves an objective analysis of themes in selected Yoruba written poems and a review of books, journals, and relevant scholarly works. The theoretical framework is post-colonial theory. The study serves as a pointer to the roles Yoruba poets have played before and after independence and how they documented post-colonial experiences.
