Abstract

This study assessed the availability and utilization of infrastructure facilities for children with special needs in Borno State basic education schools. Three objectives and three research questions guided the study. A survey research design was used with a population of 1,002 teachers, parents, and head teachers. A simple random sampling technique produced a sample of 203 respondents across the three senatorial districts of the state. Data were collected using a 20-item questionnaire and checklist and analysed using descriptive statistics. Findings showed inadequate provision of infrastructure facilities, instructional materials, and assistive technology for children with special needs. The study recommends urgent government intervention to provide adequate infrastructure, learning resources, and specialised equipment.
