Abstract

This study investigates the role of women in counter-insurgency operations in Northeast Nigeria, with particular focus on how gender dynamics influence participation in intelligence gathering, community policing, and the challenges encountered. Adopting a qualitative research design, the study relies on secondary data from academic journals, policy reports, institutional publications, and media articles. Findings reveal that women contribute significantly to intelligence gathering and community engagement, but their involvement is constrained by institutional gender biases, cultural norms, and limited policy recognition. The study recommends gender-sensitive security policies, training programmes, and strict implementation of the revised national gender policy.
