Abstract

This study examines the impact of protests, particularly the #EndSARS and hunger protests, on escalating insecurity in Nigeria. It investigates how peaceful demonstrations evolved into violent outbreaks and heightened insecurity. Using content analysis of secondary sources, the study is grounded in Frustration-Aggression Theory and Relative Deprivation Theory. Findings show that the protests escalated due to inadequate government responses, economic frustration, and hijacking by criminal elements. The study recommends non-violent crowd control, dialogue with protest leaders, police reform, and policies addressing economic inequality and youth unemployment.
