Abstract

This study assesses unitary challenges in the cultural revival of traditional dances among selected language groups in North East Nigeria. It examines the cultural dances of Bura, Glavda, Kibaku, Kilba, Marghi, and Mbula communities, with attention to whether performance techniques contain factors of unity and how such factors could contribute to reconciliation among people in the region. Historicism is adopted as the framework. Findings suggest that the observed cultural dances, which were neglected by early missionaries, could have contributed to reconciling efforts among the peoples and between God and man.
