Abstract

This study examines selected writings of African female writers who present breaking points in female characters and how they negotiate culture and society in pursuit of fulfillment. The theoretical framework is nego-feminism, which argues that through subtle negotiations, the African woman can achieve agency without direct culture clash. Findings show that when women follow the path of negotiation without legal protection, there is a tendency for them to lean toward radicalism. The study suggests that policies, laws, and enforcement agencies can create a balanced society in which citizens can express themselves without gender-based marginalization.
