Abstract

This study examines the Nigerian Baptist Convention identity and its ecumenical involvements in the Southwestern states of Nigeria. It investigates the extent of NBC involvement in ecumenical bodies, its contributions, and the challenges such engagements pose to denominational identity. Historical and descriptive approaches were adopted using archival materials, reports, minutes, letters, newsletters, oral interviews, and secondary sources. The study concludes that NBC has contributed to Christian unity, theological dialogue, social justice, human rights, education, and interfaith initiatives, while recommending stronger theological education and ecumenical dialogue platforms.
