Abstract

This paper assesses the strategy of the Satiru Revolt of 1906 in the Sokoto Caliphate. The paper adopted dialectical materialism theory in explaining the nature of class struggle in the area during the period under study. Using a descriptive framework of secondary sources, the study discloses the geography and history of Satiru town, the causes of the revolt and the long and immediate factors that triggered it. The paper also identifies the strategies employed by the Satirawa in acquiring intelligence and tactical training used to attack British forces. It evaluates the consequences and significance of the Satiru revolt to the authorities and the families of the revolutionaries or rebels.
