Abstract

Corruption in Nigeria has long remained a prevailing problem and has negatively affected the economic and political development of the country. Many governments have instituted anti-corruption agencies to tackle corruption, but these agencies have faced challenges. The Whistle Blowing Policy was inaugurated in December 2016 by former President Muhammadu Buhari to fulfil his electioneering promise of fighting corruption. This study interrogates the achievements, challenges and reasons behind the policy and how it can be improved. Secondary data collection was employed, with narrative report and discourse analysis used. The study recommends the passage of a Whistle Blowing Protection Act.
