Abstract

The study explores occurrences in sub-communicative units of Move 2 in selected news bulletins from Gombe State FM radio stations, with the aim of identifying their unique features, common conventions and rhetorical structures. Swales’ model was adopted as the framework. The study used qualitative techniques and focused on news bulletins from selected FM stations in Gombe State. Findings revealed theoretical implications suggesting that the presentation of radio news bulletins can be considered a contextual-bound and goal-oriented genre, based on categories such as establishing a territory, establishing a niche and occupying a niche.
