Abstract

Boko Haram violence has caused loss of lives and destruction of property, forcing many people to flee their homes for safety. This study examined the sociological effect of Boko Haram on IDPs in Biu Local Government Area of Borno State. The theoretical framework was based on social disorganization theory. The study adopted mixed-method research design and sampled 195 IDPs from a population of 370. Findings revealed that Boko Haram led to displacement, loss of homes, livelihood and social networks, creating a burden on host communities and increasing unemployment among IDPs and host community members.
