Abstract

This study examines the linkage between energy access, renewable energy consumption and industrial output in Nigeria. Annual time series data for 1990 to 2023 were obtained from the World Bank Development Indicators database. The autoregressive distributed lag estimation technique was employed to establish the relationship among the variables. Findings revealed that access to electricity and renewable energy consumption have positive short-run and long-run associations with industrial output, while access to clean energy for cooking impacts industrial output positively in the short run. The study recommends improved access to electricity, clean energy and renewable energy use in Nigeria.
